New insights with EEG headsets from Emotiv – available at MindTecStore
A recent study by neuroscience company Emotiv in collaboration with global real estate firm JLL has provided compelling evidence on how different office environments influence cognitive performance and employee wellbeing. Using Emotiv’s EPOC X EEG headsets, the study measured brain activity in real time to assess stress levels, attention, and mental engagement across workplace settings.
During an office relocation in Tokyo, JLL employees were monitored in both the old and newly designed office environments. Results revealed increased cognitive activity, interest, and focus in the new office – especially among employees who felt comfortable in the updated space.
One of the key findings: elevated stress levels correlated with decreased engagement, regardless of environment. Factors like improved air quality, natural light, and ergonomic furniture contributed to lower stress and improved focus.
The study highlights how neuroscience can inform evidence-based decisions in office design, helping companies create healthier, more productive environments.
