Healbe? has its roots in 1999, when researchers at the Saint Petersburg-based Algorithm Innovation and Technological Consulting Center began work on a technology to measure blood glucose concentrations noninvasively. Algorithm?s research group?consisting of endocrinologists, physiologists, physicians, clinical diagnosticians, mathematicians, programmers, electronics engineers, physicists, and other professionals?spent more than a decade refining and validating their model for noninvasive glucose measurement, including conducting more than 500 internal tests. In 2012, Artem Shipitsyn, George Mikaberidze, and Stanislav Povolotsky founded Healbe? in partnership with Algorithm, and set out to apply Algorithm?s technology to the development of a totally new kind of wearable device: a body manager that would use the body?s own information to give people continuous insights into the most important parameters of whole-body health?including automatic calorie intake measurement.
