How to record an EKG with KardiaMobile 6L

KardiaMobile 6L - Mobile 6-lead ECG device

The KardiaMobile 6L from AliveCor is a handy mobile ECG device that enables 6-lead ECG recordings. It displays results on smartphones or tablets and can indicate AFib (atrial fibrillation), bradycardia, tachycardia and normal heart rhythm. Measurements are taken on the top of the device via two electrodes for the fingers and on the bottom of the device via a sensor for skin contact from the left leg.

Instructions for using the KardiaMobile 6L ECG device:

1.App start: the user opens the Kardia app on their smartphone or tablet (iOS or Android) and selects the "Record ECG" option.
2nd measurement preparation: The left foot is placed relaxed on the right leg. The thumbs are placed on the front sensors of the device, while the lower sensor is in contact with the skin of the left leg (at the knee or ankle).
3rd measurement: The ECG recording lasts 30 seconds. After completion, the result is displayed directly on the smartphone or tablet.
The ECG data is automatically saved in the device and can be viewed via the Kardia app. The data is transferred from the ECG device to the smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth.

No, the 6L can only be used with the accompanying app on your smartphone or tablet.

What is the difference between KardiaMobile 6L and KardiaMobile?

The KardiaMobile 6L offers a portable ECG system that can record either one or six leads. It offers an EKG with enormous detail accuracy. The KardiaMobile is the previous model and only offers single lead measurements.

How many ECG leads does KardiaMobile have?

The KardiaMobile 6L has 6 channels, but like the previous KardiaMobile it can also be used with only one lead and 2 channels.

How do I cancel my premium membership KardiaCare?

In the KardiaCare App, click the icon in the top right corner of the home screen
In the center right pane, go to "Manage Membership".
Tap on Cancel membership and confirm with "Yes" in the next step
Premium membership will be canceled and no more monthly/annual fees will be charged.

Do I need the 12-digit referral code to use my KardiaMobile 6L?

No, the 12-digit referral code is not required for the basic use of the KardiaMobile 6L. This code is only needed if you want to use advanced features that require a direct connection to a doctor or medical service provider. For everyday use of the device, simply select the "Basic" option during the registration process. If you are asked for a referral code, you can skip this query by tapping "Dismiss" at the bottom of the screen and continue setting up your account. The 12-digit code is an optional feature and does not affect the basic functions of the device.

Ich bin mit dem Gerät sehr zufrieden. Es lässt sich leicht bedienen und die Verbindung mit der Smartphone-App klappt auf Anhieb. Die App ist aufgeräumt, ansprechend gestaltet und gut bedienbar. Schade dass sie keine EKGs an Apple Health übermittelt, obwohl alle Berechtigungen gesetzt sind. Ebenso werden vorhandene Gewichtsmessungen von dort nicht ausgelesen.
Die FAQs / Hilfeseiten des Herstellers beziehen sich auf das alte Modell mit akustischer Kommunikation, dieses Gerät kommuniziert mit dem Handy per Bluetooth.

Außerhalb der Wertung, weil nicht auf das Gerät bezogen: Die App bietet die Möglichkeit, zusätzlich ein Omron Blutdruckmessgerät zu koppeln. Ich habe ein Gerät, das auf der Kompatibilitätsliste steht, es wird aber von der Kardia App nicht entdeckt. Am Gerät liegt es nicht, es hat sich problemlos mit der Omron-App auf zwei Handys koppeln lassen. Es würde auch reichen, wenn die Kardia App die Blutdruckwerte von der Omron App oder Appple Health holen könnte.
