NeeuroBike review: Training for body & mind
When the mind trains along, the body follows more easily
Jonas M., Trainer in the physical department of a senior care facility
I have been working for over ten years as a trainer in the physical department of a nursing home. My daily routine consists of promoting movement, gentle muscle building, balance training – but above all, a lot of empathy. Our residents are no longer as mobile as they used to be, often lacking motivation or energy. Movement becomes more difficult, and mental alertness decreases over time.
About six months ago, I came across the NeeuroBike – a training system that specifically combines physical activity with cognitive activation. At first, I was skeptical. Technology, sensors, an app? Would it really be accepted? Today I can say it was the best decision to give it a try.
Strengthening both body and mind – without pressure
What immediately convinced me was the idea that not only the body, but also the brain is deliberately trained. The NeeuroBike works with a headband that measures brain activity, a sensor for pedaling frequency, and an app with thinking games automatically adapted to the users’ abilities. You sit on the exercise bike, pedal – and at the same time, simple, motivating exercises appear on the screen, supporting attention, memory, and reaction.
I was amazed at how well our residents responded. Especially those who had previously been more passive suddenly started participating again. “Finally something that not only gets the legs going but also the brain,” one resident told me after her third session.
Practical for facilities – and easy to handle
In practice, the NeeuroBike is easy to implement. The app is very clear, with large, self-explanatory icons, and setup is done in just a few minutes. I can manage training individually or in small groups. The EEG headband is comfortable, and the Bluetooth connection works reliably. The practical thing is that I didn’t need to purchase new equipment. The sensors can be connected to our existing ergometers. This kept the entry barrier low – and acceptance within the team was high.
The effect is noticeable – for residents and daily life
After just a few weeks, we noticed changes. Some residents became more alert, active, and self-confident. The combination of physical and cognitive training seems to provide just the right level of stimulation – not too much, not too little. They feel needed, challenged, but not overwhelmed. One resident recently told me: “I used to feel like I was just lying around. But this here feels like a little training for life.”
And that is exactly what it is: an invitation to reconnect with oneself – with one’s own body and mind. For many, it’s a real turning point in everyday life.
Suitable for home use – for family members or mobile care
I can now also imagine the NeeuroBike being very useful in home care. Family members who care for someone at home get a tool that motivates and supports – without pressure and without complicated technology. The app guides through each session, the training intensity can be adjusted, and progress is visible at any time.
What I particularly like is that users remain in control. They decide when and how long they want to train. This creates not a feeling of “having to,” but of self-determination – a central value in working with older people.
My conclusion: A training system with heart and mind
For me, the NeeuroBike is far more than just a piece of technology. It is a tool that helps give older people a piece of quality of life back – through targeted, gentle activation of body and mind. Over the years, I have tested many training methods. But hardly anything has changed my work as much as this system. It challenges without overwhelming. It activates without stressing. And it brings joy – both to the users and to me as a trainer.
I can highly recommend it for care facilities, for family caregivers – and for anyone who has realized that active aging is possible when you have the right tools at hand.
